Please contact us at: sales@haneng.com How does the Domain license system work? Each license is sold for use on one domain address OR one IP address. So how is use defined? Well if you use HanengCharts on one page that people access through the URL http://www.yourdomain.com/something/chart.html the domain that is used is www.yourdomain.com. If someone access the same page using another URL or the site's IP address HanengCharts will NOT work. So the rule of thumb is to buy one license for each domain address and one license for each IP address that will be used to access your pages that use HanengCharts. In most cases one will never use the IP address (e.g. http://192.192.192.192/) to access a website, so a license for the domain will be sufficient. How does the Enterprise license system work? Each license allows for unlimited use of HanengCharts 3.1 within one company or organization. There are no domain name or IP address limitations. This allows for maximum flexibility at a fixed price. If you are doing your development on the same machine as the one that is running the web server (like PWS or IIS) you can use the URL http://127.0.0.1/ or http://localhost/ to access the website, so just buy a license for 127.0.0.1 OR localhost. Please note that people on other machines will not be able to access your site through this domain. A better solution might then be to use the network name for your machine, so my machine is called alex and other users can access my development website through the URL http://alex/. In this case I would buy a license for alex. If I buy a license for www.domain.com will it work on just domain.com also? Yes. If you purchase a license for www.domain.com it will also work without the www. If I buy a license for www.domain.com will it work on something.domain.com also? No. The best solution in this case is an Enterprise License. Can I use HanengCharts on a CD-ROM or directly from the file system? Yes. As long as you have a valid license key in place you can use HanengCharts with any HTML file read directly from the file system, e.g. if you double click on an HTML file in Windows Explorer, it will work. Can I change the IP or domain name licensed later? No. Since we can not control which license keys are active and which are not we can not reissue a license under a different domain or IP address. Can I use multiple license keys at once? Yes! You can use up to 5 license keys at once. This allows you to transfer a site from a development machine (with one domain name) to the production server (that has a different domain name) without having to change all the license keys in the code.
